Hello Summer ☀️ Our Summer Trading Hours Are Here

The holidays have arrived — and so has our favourite way to dine. Long lunches, relaxed dinners, spontaneous catch-ups and plenty of time spent around the table. Summer at Alatonero is officially on.

We’ve swapped our spring hours for summer trading, making it even easier to drop in, settle back, and enjoy the season.

🎄 Christmas Trading

We’ll be taking a short break to celebrate with our own families:
Closed Christmas Day & Boxing Day (25–26 December)

Then… we’re back and ready to roll.

🌞 Open Daily for Summer

From Friday 27 December we’re open every day, trading right through to the Australia Day long weekend.

Note: On New Years Day we open from 4pm

Easy mid-week dinners when cooking is officially off the table
Long, lazy holiday lunches that roll gently into the afternoon
Mid-afternoon cocktails in the garden when one turns into two
Romantic dinners after a salty day at the beach
Catch-ups with friends who are suddenly “free all week”

🍽️ How to Dine at Alatonero This Summer

We’re here to make every visit easy, memorable, and absolutely worth it. Over summer, there are two ways to dine, depending on how planned (or spontaneous) you’re feeling.

1. Book a Table – Full-Service Dining

Main dining room, covered deck & bar dining room

If you love a plan (or you’re dining during peak summer dates), booking a table is the way to go. You’ll enjoy full table service, our complete menu, and all the relaxed hospitality we’re known for.

Bookings are recommended for weekends, January dates, groups, and celebrations — and can be made online with all details outlined on our booking page.

2. Walk In & Unwind – Garden & Terrace

Feeling casual? Our garden and terrace are perfect for walk-ins and summer spontaneity.

Order when you’re ready, stay as long as you like

Simply grab a spot, scan the QR code, and ease into alfresco dining at its best.

Our outdoor areas are first come, first served and can’t be booked in advance — Melbourne weather likes to keep us guessing, and we roll with it.

Very friendly waitstaff who know the menu and how to relate. Excellent food but why not put oregano on the chips (which is traditional Greek) and for a rable of two serve entrees and mains at the same time rather than one plate at a time.

Fantastic food, delicious - saganaki, lamb souvlaki and ancient grain salad with chicken were the favourites Attentive service Lovely setting, busy, humming place right opposite the beach Only criticism is that it is very noisy inside, lots of hard surfaces and lots of tables made for a fair old racket, hard to hear people across the table. Grab a table outside behind the olive trees, under the vines. But that’s just a minor criticism, overall we really enjoyed dinner and we’ll be back 👍

Unfortunately our food suffered under what would have been a very busy kitchen. We went on the first day of 2025 The Saganaki was warm and hard, the zucchini fritters over cooked, fine on the inside but charged on the outside, as were the calamari, which were dry and spent. Even the prawns were over cooked with little plumpness or taste left under the overcooked string of pastry. The only dish that came out perfect were the Spanakopita Cigars Sophie, our waitress was 100% awesome. For the price we paid it is unfortunate that the kitchen this time, did not live up to its usual flair. Here's to a better dinning experience next time.
